A home for life - 2018 Annual Report

The Board of Trustees are delighted to publish the Iveagh Trust's Annual Report for 2018.

Entitled "A home for life", the 2018 report features one of many residents that have found a home with the Trust for almost 90 years, along with an account from one of our longest serving staff members - both fragments of a much wider tale that illustrate what we are about; providing a sense of belonging, continuity and community.

2018 was a year of consolidation and preparation for the Trust in readiness for a new chapter of growth and development, while also planning to ensure that our existing housing can continue to provide homes to those in need for generations to come. With 194 new homes under construction, representing growth of 16% in our general residential stock, we are committed to playing our part in meeting the huge need that continues to exist for housing.

As work progressed apace throughout the year on the next generation of Iveagh Trust homes, Trustees also turned their attention to the management of our existing properties, examining how we can best address the challenges of enhanced standards, energy efficiency and financial sustainability. To that end, the Trust has embarked on the most extensive survey we have ever undertaken to assess the condition of our homes. In all, over 67% of our stock will be comprehensively surveyed, including the entire Kevin Street and Bull Alley estates.

The results of the stock condition survey will be key to informing the Trust’s forthcoming Asset Management Strategy, under the direction of a newly established Asset Management Committee. While much has been done over the last number of years to enhance comfort and improve standards – for example, over €2.1 million was invested in our properties alone during 2018 – the establishment of the Asset Management Committee will bring a renewed focus and a strategic approach to how we manage our properties; to the benefit, above all, of our residents and communities.
