Any tenant seeking to install a pre-payment meter for gas or electricity must first contact the Iveagh Trust to request permission.
How do I get a Pre-Payment Meter?
Contact your utility provider; i.e. Bord Gáis, Electric Ireland, Airtricity etc. Some providers offer installation of pre-payment meters to enable you to manage your bills more effectively. However, a utility provider may only allow a pre-payment meter to be installed if you are falling behind with your bills.
How do I ask for Permission from The Iveagh Trust?
You need to apply in writing to: John Binnie, Repairs & Maintenance Coordinator, The Iveagh Trust, Bull Alley Street, Dublin 8.
Once permission is granted you will receive a standard letter back confirming that you may proceed, you will then be required to provide the following information:
- Current Utility Provider
- Current Utility Account Number
- MPRN or GPRN Number
- Which Company you are applying to for Pre Payment meter
- Confirmation that you may be liable for fees (dependent upon provider) & how you propose to pay.
On receipt of this information, The Iveagh Trust will then contact your chosen provider with a letter of authorisation. Your provider should then contact you in the next 5-7 working days to make an appointment to fit the meter. If you don’t receive a call to schedule an appointment, you will need to contact your provider to request an appointment for meter installation.
