2016 Annual Report

2016_AR2

The Board of Trustees are very pleased to publish the Iveagh Trust’s Annual Report for 2016.

The 2016 report places a special focus on the really positive impact made by the Iveagh Hostel. The largest homeless hostel in Ireland, “The Iveagh” as it is known to many, has quietly offered refuge to thousands for over 112 years and continues to play a major role in alleviating homelessness in Dublin.

We hear from Barry, one of our transitional tenants who moved on from the Hostel in 2016 and is now well on his way to securing his own permanent home with the Trust. As Barry’s story shows, homelessness can happen to anyone.

The report also looks at the very positive results from the ICSH tenant satisfaction survey and focusses on the launch of the Trust’s Corporate Plan to deliver an additional 650 social housing units by the end of 2020.

While construction continued apace at the Trust’s latest housing scheme to provide 70 x 1 bed apartments in a supported setting for older people, the report takes a look at the real potential for downsizing to unlock capacity in our existing housing stock, and maximise the impact of new-build social housing developments.

As the housing and homelessness crisis continued to deepen throughout 2016, Trustees are determined that the Iveagh Trust will play its part.
