Building on our past…
The Board of Trustees are very pleased to publish the Trust’s Annual Report for 2015, a special report marking 125 years since the foundation of the Trust in 1890.
The report is interlaced with rarely seen images from our earliest days, providing a window not only on our past but also offering reflections of life in Dublin City over the last 125 years. It is an opportunity to take stock of what has been achieved but also to focus on the challenges we all face in attempting to meet a demand for housing that has reached unprecedented levels in modern times.
There’s a special focus also on our dedicated staff, that not only work on our estates but live there, helping to ensure that even our oldest properties have been turned around time and again to provide housing for family after family.
Throughout the year, the Trust continued to invest substantial resources to refurbish and upgrade its existing stock. In particular, many apartments underwent extensive energy upgrade works with the assistance of the SEAI to dramatically improve the energy rating of these properties, reduce utility bills for tenants and provide enhanced levels of comfort.
As the year drew to a close, the sod was turned on a sheltered housing scheme of 70 one bed apartments for Senior Citizens in Ballyfermot, marking the start of new chapter in the Trust’s story.
